The delegation was led by Dr. Francis Polong the incoming director of technology transfer and extension services and the outgoing director Dr. Arthur Onyoka.
The meeting discussed ways the County Government and KIRDI could partner in technology training and capacity building for the benefit of local SMEs, women and youth.
They agreed to conduct a rapid feasibility study to assess the resources available that can be exploited for value addition.
Areas to be researched on include mathenge tree for animal feeds, nyirinyiri meat, leather processing, honey, gums and resin production as well as camel milk and dairy products. This will create employment and expand market opportunities for the people of Garissa.
